Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common arborist stump grinding, pricing, process, and lawn restoration questions.

General Stump Grinding

Why should I remove tree stumps instead of leaving them?
Leaving tree stumps on your property can create hazard block obstacles on lawns, encourage termite nesting, and allow fungal arborist diseases like honey fungus to infect surrounding native plants.
Absolutely. We carry £5,000,000 in specialist arborist public liability cover and our operators hold full City & Guilds NPTC certifications.

Pricing & Estimates

How much does tree stump grinding cost?
Arborist rates depend on the stump’s widest diameter at ground level. Small garden stumps start around £60-80, with accurate flat rates provided in under 2 hours via our WhatsApp estimate feature.
No. The flat rate we quote from your photograph includes operator arborist labor, specialized machinery, public liability cover, and standard lawn cleanup.

Our Arborist Process

Can your arborist machinery fit through small gates?
Yes, our narrow-access machines require only 26 inches (66cm) of clearance, which easily fits standard UK garden gates without fence dismantling.
By default, we backfill the fresh wood chips into the newly-ground hole to settle naturally as nutrient-rich arborist compost mulch. We can clear and extract it upon request.

Post-Grinding Aftercare

Can I immediately plant a new tree or lay turf over the ground?
Yes, because the stump is ground up to 12 inches below level soil, you can rake back the mulch, add a thin layer of topsoil, and immediately seed lush green lawn grass or plant.
Arborist wood mulch chips are neutral and pose no threat of soil acidification. They decay naturally to enrich garden organisms.
